Rick Charette writes songs for children from a child’s point of view — about mud, sneakers, chickens, a loose tooth, and one very polite alligator.

His performances blend original contemporary pop music and lyrics with imaginative activities that generate all kinds of audience participation. Rick graduated from the University of Southern Maine with degrees in Music Education and English, and elementary teachers across the country use his music in their classrooms to support their language arts programs.

He has been a featured speaker at the Northeast Whole Language Conference and a keynote speaker at the National Association For The Education Of Young Children Conference in Washington, D.C.

For large concert events he performs with The Bubblegum Band, and has appeared at Riverfest in Little Rock, Arkansas; Boston Citywide Arts; and Imagination Parade, a live concert radio broadcast in New York City. His music has been featured on Peter Pan and Walt Disney Records and cited in Entertainment Weekly and Billboard. The NBC-TV broadcast An Evening With Rick Charette won the National IRIS Award for programming excellence.

He has released 12 albums, two children’s picture books and three live concert videos, distributed nationally and sold well over a quarter of a million copies. His album Seven Ate Nine, a collection of new original songs, arrived in June 2016.

A life-long resident of Maine, Rick and his wife have three grown children.

A Letter from Rick

Hello Friends,

I am no longer performing or making any public appearances.

When I reflect on the last 35 years of performing for you, your children, and grandchildren, I feel very blessed to have been able to share my songs with you. Honored really, that my songs have been part of so many people’s growing up years. It has been an amazing career and I cannot thank you enough for all the joy you have given me.

Sadly, I will greatly miss being with you in the schools. I am spending time with my family and friends and staying closer to home. I hope you’ll continue to share my songs with the next generation to come!

Thank you for your wonderful support over the years.

Your friend, Rick Charette
